Her Misty Blue has been listened to millions of times on YouTube and over 1.1 million times on Spotify. But Dorothy Moore is much more than the 1976 top-of-the-chart song. The multiple Grammy-nominee has since released over 15 albums. She is  very active, singing rhythm’n blues, soul, and gospel.  Dorothy Moore released to rave reviews her new album "I'm Happy With The One I've Got Now" in March 2020.

“I was brought up in a church choir. My mother told me that she recognized that I had a voice at the age of three”, recalls Mississippi native and multiple Grammy nominee Dorothy Moore. Her mother was a lead singer in a church choir, her father a lead singer for gospel group The Soul Consolators. “There was no way I could’ve got out of it.”

Dorothy Moore was raised by her great grandmother who would “chaperone me when I was singing around town locally, in different talent shows.” She started her professional career in the 1960s as lead singer of the Poppies trio. Her success came in 1976 as a solo artist with the release of the classic Misty Blue. Dorothy Moore has over 50 years of work in the music and entertainment industry and 16 albums to her credit.

Dorothy Moore’s early chart toppers were Misty Blue, Funny How Time Slips Away, I Believe You, For Old Time Sake and With Pen in Hand.

Misty Blue climbed the US charts to number one for R&B and to number one single in the UK. It went gold in Canada and has sold millions worldwide. Misty Blue went platinum for the soundtrack of Phenomenon (1996), movie starring John Travolta, Kyra Sedgwick, and Forest Whitaker. Her song is also played in Black or White with Kevin Costner (2015), Made of Honor (2008), Jesus’ Son (2000), and on the small screen in a Sopranos episode (2004).

I Believe You, released in 1977, earned Dorothy Moore one of Record World’s Top Female Vocalists of the year. The song made the number one single R&B and the top 10 single in the US, and went to number one single in the UK.

Dorothy Moore started her own label in 2002, Farish Street Records of Mississippi, for which she has recorded five albums, the last being "I'm Happy With The One I've Got Now." She served on the Board of the Blues Foundation, Memphis, for six years and was the chair of the Hart Fund for which she still volunteers actively.

She has performed on stage with Lou Rawls, Al Green, B.B. King, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Ben E. King, Eddie Floyd… She has also appeared on prestigious shows, including Soul Train and The Midnight Special. She has toured internationally to Japan, Jamaica, Switzerland and the UK for three trips, continuing to wow fans with her gospel (one of her favorite genres), with her new music, and with her classic Misty Blue.
