More About Fred T
Fred T (Fredrick T. Robinson) likes to tell people, "I'm just a little ole country boy." In reality, he is a Mississippi musician born into the gospel side of music. Born in Crystal Springs and growing up in Harrisville, Mississippi as the 12th of fourteen children, Fred T. was immersed in Gospel from the very beginning, playing bass and singing in his family’s band, The Robinson Brothers. During this time, Fred T sang and learned to play drums, bass guitar, lead guitar and keyboards. When his family band eventually disbanded, Fred T. followed his heart, playing at every opportunity with other gospel groups such as Sweet Harmony out of Port Gibson, MS, the Spring Hill Inspirational Choir, and the St. Luther Inspirational Choir in Jackson, MS.
Woven in and out of all the gospel tunes, Fred realized a deep desire to play the blues. He eventually signed on with Dexter Allen and played bass with Dexter for twenty years. But, once again, his musical muse beckoned him onward with a desire to begin his own band. With this step, Fred T effortlessly made the move from bass to lead vocals and guitar. He now fronts his own five-member band, Fred T and The Band.
Fred T has a stage presence that brings the crowd in and makes them part of his story as he dances and smiles his way through the moves-n- grooves of the blues beat.
Fred T writes and performs many of his own songs, as well as playing covers of all the blues greats. He has just completed a music video which is the first release of a soon-to-be-released CD. If you are looking for Mississippi-born, gospel-infused blues, don't hesitate to book Fred T. & The Band for your next event or festival. He'd love to Play The Blues For You!
